A rag quilt is simply a patchwork quilt with the seams exposed on the outside. The seams are raveled and clipped to prevent further fraying. When it's washed the clipped seams create a pretty ruffled effect and soft textural element. Simple clean and neat patchwork on the back.

Pioneer sewists would gather, layer and hand stitch together scarce random bits and pieces of often upcycled cloth into a quilt to keep warm and last a lifetime. Today we have the luxury of working with beautiful new premium quality fresh modern all cotton fabrics and modern tools.

It all starts with the inspiration. A flower, a fabric, a photo, a stunning color combination. Then beautiful fabrics are selected, cut and stitched. The arrangement may seem random but it takes talent, time and trial to find just the right balance of color, value and scale and the element of movement that creates the "sparkle" in a quilt.

Every attempt has been made to ensure photos are true to color. There may be variation due to individual monitor settings.

Gently machine wash cold with mild detergent.
Never agitate.
Never use bleach.
Always support the weight of wet quilt.
Tumble dry on low, remove promptly.
Gently shake off or remove any lint by hand.

Never iron minky.

Your rag quilt will become softer and cozier over time with use.
Overexposure to sunlight is not recommended.

I use pre-washed all cotton premium designer prints front and back(never muslin!). Your quilt will be beautiful on both sides. The filling is lightweight warm and natural or warm and white all cotton batting. Generous seams with simple straight stitches to join and cross the blocks. A finish of 2 rows of tiny zig zags on the edges. Loose messy threads are trimmed. Your beautiful and durable handmade quilt will be inspected (by me) and delivered neat and "relatively" lint free from a clean smoke free pet free environment.

Shipping insurance is available as an add on option. Shipping insurance offers coverage with proof of loss or damage during shipping only. Once the carrier posts the package as delivered the coverage is no longer valid. In the event of damage or loss I will file the claim but documentation by you is required in order to proceed with the claim. A signature option is also available as an add on if you would like to sign on delivery.
